Kassav's catalog is so vast than you have to include songs from their side projects too. I compiled two discs of my favorites by them last year and went back to their Love and ka dance/Oh Madiana days to recent stuff that Patrick St. Eloi ( before he left) and Jean Claude Naimro did with African musicians.
Speaking of their side projects, I borrowed an LP that they did with Jocelyn Mocka, a singer from Guadeloupe. Can't say i liked it...almost didn't record it. Also picked up LPs by Typical, Trianga (new to me), Magic Tub with Gordon Henderson and Chantale Rhinan, Eddy Gustave, Jacky Rapon and Zetwal, Another Chiktay, and a Cedia Sylviane from Guyane. Saw an oldie by cadance group Les Aiglons and a Grammacks record with a cover of Eddy Grant's "Hello Africa." They'll have to wait until next time, borrowing 20 of the man's LPs at one time was enough. I'll put up sound files when I'm done.

Good thread indeed. I don't know a lick of creole but I can definitely relate to Kassav's music. Man I have almost all those posted on my MP3 player. Wish I knew the language to sing along though.
