CPA vs Masters

So I'm thinking to either study for the CPA exam or pursue my Masters in Taxation, Management or a field close to these two. Kind of confused which path to take since I'm 27 and time is ticking. Any thoughts?

what is it that u ultimately want to do? If u can do the kind of work u want without having to get a CPA, then why not. Unless ur goals are specific to having the designation in place.

Considering the current job market in the finance world additional degrees or certifications are not as rare as before. A BS in accounting is nothing these days.

I was comparing a CPA to a Masters. I mean, yes its good to have the extra certification but to do the CPA route without having a clear reason why other than just having it seems like an exercise. You may be just as better off with the Master in Taxation than the CPA - depending on what u want to do in the future.

True but with a CPA it makes you more marketable in the sense that you are well rounded. But with a MS in Taxation you are stuck in the tax world of accountant. Are you an accountant?

CPA all the way! Trust me! That license will open so many doors and literally double/triple your salary.

@bolded......absolutely correct. There is a reason that exam has a 48% pass rate. To me it is the ultimate achievement. You get certified and the sky is the limit...

True......it seems that you already answer your own question.

One thing to point out, which I am sure you already know......audits, a lot, prior to getting that cpa , by far the better of the two.....CPAs are always in demand if you know anything about finance......not the other way around.
