Jill Scott was supposed to perform with Wyclef Jean on Tues, August 12th in Central Park but it appears that it has been canceled. Cost was $65 (refunds available)

My review: Jill Scott in Brooklyn

When it was time for Jill Scott to come on stage almost everybody who were seated got up to cheer her on and waited in anticipation. I was impressed by that as I never saw her live before and that says a lot.

Most of her performance was a jazzy, cool, soulful type of songs.
She had humor, she talked about couples continuing the love and affection they showed each other in the beginning. Some songs she introduced with a few words.

She let members of her multi-talented band do solos such as the horn section, drummer, ... She took us back in song with her singers briefly doing solos of classic songs of love. They can 'sang'.

Towards the end there were 4-5 song selections which were more of the faster party type of songs. Most of the songs were from her new cd: Real Thing. She gave an awesome final performance of a song that had her close to tears.

Wingate Field was her last performance before her trip to Africa.

Jill Scott was wonderful. Her vocals on point and she made you feel so happy to be there. She came off the stage at the end to interact with the crowd in the VIP section. If you go to her myspace page around August 11th you will see the comments from her friends.
