Word-Compartmentalised

Is your life like a chest of drawers with a separate one for each
interest, value and pastime? One for work, one for play, one for church;
every one requiring a separate set of values and a different language?
Every new situation you encounter demands yet another drawer to ensure
complete appropriateness and safety. So rather than having oneness and
integrity of character, your life is fragmented by many roles. Modern
living is custom-made for compartmentalised living. We hardly know the
family next door. We commute to a church miles away, often walking in
and out in near anonymity. We work with one crowd and play with another.
The opportunities for undercover activity are almost limitless. Since no
one knows us in any other context, we are free to reinvent ourselves in
each aspect of our life. But God doesn't see you as a row of
compartments or a collection of separate performances. He sees you as a
whole person. The person you are when no one's looking is just the same
to Him as the person you are when you're standing in plain view. God
asks for integrity (wholeness) in our lives. Why? Because it doesn't
work any other way! God made us with one will, one mind, one heart and
one spirit. It's satan's lie that 'we can have it both ways' which
leaves us fractured and paralysed. What's the answer? Listen, '"Love the
Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all
your strength" ' (Deuteronomy 6:5 NIV). Refuse to live a
'compartmentalised' life!
