Question Why are there so many branches

Of the same damn religion? how can so many people follow da same book an abide by da same laws, but believe so much different stuff.

For example the other day someone asked me what religion i was and i said christian, then they said what kind. I just had to respond with the kind that believes in God.

Can a person not just be "a christian"?

Cool

Simple, because the "branches" are not adhering to what they use as their rule of faith.

easy.

same reason we have different types of government...........

people disagree.

in a more cynical but realistic explanation.
Sometimes there are political motives
ESPECIALLY during the early days

That second bit is totally up to YOU! No title is needed to validate what you feel inside!

I never got the concept of non-denominational...what is a denomination? Isn't it a group of people who get together because they accept what the church stands for? Non-denominational groups do the same, don't they?

For example a religion like Christianity is started.
over time people start different sects catholics,protestants,baptists.....
They all fall under the umbrella of cristianity but each have their different quirks. Its the quirks that tend to draw in members to the respective sects

Isn't it a group of people who get together because they accept what the church stands for? Yes but they either believe differently from other sects that in existence at the time or have other motives for breaking away

Non-denominational groups do the same, don't they?they follow basic christianity.in other words no facy stuff.nothing to one extrememe or the other.the middle road

A denomination is pretty much just another word for a sect. Where a certain denomination would have X, Y, and Z theories and rules unique to their sect while another would have A, B, and C, non-denominational people would not have those kinds of things since they are not apart of a specific sect.
