Three Faiths, One God

I caught this show in the middle last night and it was awesome. They pulled scholars, religious leaders, everyday adults and high school students of the Christian, Islamic and Judaic faiths.

The first part I saw was like a round table discussion lead by the scholars of each faith where they cross referenced all the similarities of the three faiths -beliefs, ways of worship, traditions, history, struggles etc.

Next they dealt with stereotypes and political issues that divide the faiths. They had members of each faith get into groups and make lists of things they don't want other faiths to think about them, say about them or do to them.

There was another discussion for the women only; in which one of the things they talked about were stereotypes about Muslim women and how Islam treats them.

They took the high school students of all faiths and socioeconomic backgrounds to volunteer with younger kids in all different kinds of neighborhoods and pointed out how giving back is an important value in all faiths yet most people tend to give back only within their own community and how that puts people in "little boxes" and allows stereotypes to live on.

They even had an Islamic leader go to a white, Christian, sunday school and teach the Islamic way of worship; language and all.

Two of the high school girls, one Pakistani/Muslim and the other White/Jewish became good friends and near the end spoke about how though they still cared about the same issues (Israel/Palestine conflict) they were less passionate and found themselves arguing the other side to family & friends because they were now able to see/understand the other side.

There was a lot more to it; but, this show was excellent and I loved the focus on how its not feasible that there is only one way to God, that God could not possibly favor some of his children over others simply because of the rituals involved/the way they worship him (this was even stated by the Jewish participants). I ordered the DVD and plan to have my son watch it. Can you imagine if this whole method was replicated all over the country (the show was done in Chicago)?

I personally can't see how it's possible for there to be more than one God...if that were the case then there would be a whole celestial battle taking place before our eyes (I imagine) and the world would be a whole lot more chaotic than we've already made it.
