That is NOT the groups, it is the seeds. The group drawing is on Friday

The top eight seeded teams are(not in that order):

    Argentina

    Brazil

    England

    France

    Germany

    Italy

    Spain

    Mexico

Each of these teams will represent a group so Trinidad can expect to be in a group with one of those seven, excluding Mexico. Too bad, I would say Mexico is the weakess of the bunch but the rules are you can't be drawn into a group from the same Federation.

I wouldn't neccesarily say that Mexico is the weakest. Ppl are going around boasting that we beat Mexico but it was not their full squad. Most of their stars sat out that game.

And it isn't due to lack of faith but I think T&T should concentrate on beating the other ppl in the group we are in because we will be hard-pressed to beat any of the top 8 seeds.

However, we could have a chance against:
Mexico - because we are used to their style so we have something to work with.

Spain - they can be a bit hit or miss and their campaign has been a bit shaky this rounds.

Italy - this is me going out on a limb but maybe we could pull off a draw because usually they don't come out hard and fast in the qualifying rounds, they just do enough to qualify.

OK, who would you rather play, Mexico or either France or
Argentina? I would take Mexico but since they in CONCACAF,
TnT won't be seeing them in the first round. Here are the cup seedings:
    ............................................................ ........................
FIFA based its seedings on results at the last two World Cups and the world rankings of the past three years.

Based on that rule, Brazil topped the standings with 64 points, ahead of England with 51, Spain with 50 and Germany with 48. The fifth-ranked team was Mexico with 47, followed by France with 46 and Argentina and Italy tied in seventh with 44 points.

The United States fell just short of the top eight with 43 points, while the Dutch were well back with 38.

FIFA WORLD RANKING...(for what the're worth)
    Top 20 November 2005

    Rank Country Points +/-
    1 Brazil 841 -
    2 Czech Rep. 796 +1
    3 Netherlands 791 -1
    4 Argentina 774 -
    5 France 772 -
    6 Spain 771 +2
    7 Mexico 768 -1
    8 USA 766 -1
    9 England 757 -
    10 Portugal 754 -1
    11 Turkey 749 -
    12 Italy 741 -
    13 Denmark 732 +1
    14 Sweden 731 -1
    15 Japan 713 +1
    16 Germany 710 -1
    17 Greece 708 +1
    18 Uruguay 706 -1
    19 Iran 702 +2
    20 Croatia 701 -1

Yuh only get to play none of the top eight if yuh not in the World Cup...ha

Hey, you don't have to beat the top seed in your group to advance, perhaps a draw or lose by only one or two goals.

That said, I would pick Italy since they like defence..or at least they did at one time.

    13 Tunisia 14 Ecuador
    15 Paraguay 16 Australia

    POT 3 (Seeds 17-24)

    17 Croatia 18 Czech Rep.

Their seedings are so fackin stupid. What relevance does your result in the last 2 world cup hold on this one? Netherlands have been in the top 5 of the fifa rankings for most of the last 3 years, its beyond me how they are not in Pot 1. They are being penalized because they did not qualify for the last world cup.

Also, if your not a european country that did not win their group you have no business being in Pot 1. With that said the FIFA rankings are another joke of its own

Hello that is the ppl seeding so deal with it. I think it is the very close to fair so no Johnny come lately can perform well once and automatically become a seed. Imagine teams like the Ukraine and Ivory Coast being seeded. Which do you rather?
