Nope. It's probably one of two things.

Those who already watched it didn't notice

or

Those are waiting to watch it because they living in the USA. And NBC has held the tape of the race hostage.

Big up Jamaica! We are all so proud of you, but as a Track & Field fan this Jamaican surge does not surprise me at all. Those who follow the sport could see this coming. The wave is here now and this is just the first surge, the depth is behind. The tables have turned irreversibly and Jamaica will now rule the sprint events in track. Imagine Veronica Campbell, the defending Olympic gold medallist, could not crack the 100 metre squad this year, despite posting good times. Usain Bolt will redefine what we have come to accept as the prototypical sprinter, but this will not be easily duplicated as he is a phenomenon. We're witnessing history here and most of us may never see his records broken.

When I first saw Bolt in '03 as a Junior, I knew he was the real deal and was awestruck by his talent. He was running with the same ease and beating his opponents by huge margins. When people see him easing up today, many of them don't know that he's been doing that for awhile, as the opposition usually wasn't even close.

I believe Jamaica will also inspire the rest of the Caribbean to believe in themselves.....that they too can take it to another level. I believe you will soon see athletes from the smaller Caribbean islands achieving success in greater numbers. Finally, too bad about Churandy Martina running out of his lane, but he is 24 and can have another shot.

Nice post Rusty... but as for the inpiring people part, I think it's less about inspiring belief, and inspiring people/government to invest in and support track... we are primed to take over this thing.. and for now Jamaica leads the way.

agreed governments, companies and people need to put their money where the mouth is....

everyone rushes to give presents to persons who are already winning (thats easy advertising)
but when it comes to support the development of a sport or activity....people have to always be begging fah money
