with d amount of water surrounding us i would think we should have more swimmers rep each island.....i think i see them have open water swimming as well........cycling was pretty big in trinidad long ago, not sure if it still is but we could send people for that.......field hockey is another event...........except for maybe softball (which getting drop from d next games) we could send people to represent us in almost all events........but then you have to look at the cost of sending a large group to d games, that maybe what keeping d small islands back.

Barbados has been doing pretty good at Volleyball at Caricom level (having won over 10 Caribbean championships) but always lose when they go to the other games.......but these guys play sport after hours and still have day jobs, children all kinda ting....so i guess that why its hard for them to get to that level......

I would like to see them take up Beach volley ball.....I think we can do well there...

we are trying with the boxing, swimming and cycling (sort of)......

I would like to see us (the Caribbean get into/push) weightlifting, more of the field events (shot put, hammer throw etc) and sailing

Cuba been doing very good at the volleyball games in the olympics, I think the won 3 gold medals and a couple silver and bronze, the Cubans have represented in most of the Olympic sports, I think they have a wide variety of sports they compete in we can take a note from the cubans.

Caribbean governments need to build better facilities to train our athletes and keep the youths on the road to sporting success that way their minds would be occupied from a young age, when you look at places like Russia, Germany & china their athletes begin training at a young age we need to focus on the youths more in the WI region.

ayo missing the point, its not up to the country to send who they want, you have to qualify for the olympics. whats the point in send a bunch of ppl to compete in everything if they gone lose?

Qualify in every sport for the Olympics? when & where do these qualification games take place? I know about the Olympic football qualification matches but I never saw any other sport playoffs for the Olympic, I'm not saying you not right or nothing but when do they play these games to qualify? like Volleyball, weightlifting, water polo etc or is it only certain sports you need to be qualified?

Each country has it's own Olympic trials... the more competitive sports require that entrants from each country meet certain requirements... for instance in each running event every country's entrant must meet certain minimum time requirements. In the 100m for instance... with world-class speed somewhere around 10 secs, a country can't send a competitor whose best time is 12-13 secs.
