Ricky Henderson! I hope he can help out all those young fast players the Mets have to hit & steal bases

Don't like it.
Besides...not set in stone yet, they don't know his role quite yet, HoJo may get the batting coach job. Henderson too self-centered and selfish for my part. |

I just thought it was a strange move to make mid-season but Ricky can help them learn how to steal more bases. He was self-centered but maybe he changed

Not that that would matter, his self-centeredness won't affect his ability to impart hitting advice to the Mets batters...just that I don't think his is a good personality fit for the team. The move also isn't strange at all...hitting coaches don't teach hitters how to hit...but rather help craft offensive strategy and bring their knowledge of hitting to pitching match ups. Think of the NFL when an offense is struggling...you bring in someone with an offensive mind to influence play-calling, and to give advice on match-ups against the defense...in this case the defense would be the pitchers. |
