Because he wants to get more involved in Hollywood ( I believe producing ). He wants to live and spend most of his time in LA. Basketball ain't his love, just his job.

talking to one of my coworkers, he says part of the situation is he also didn't know how many more years Nellie was gonna stay coaching. That he didn't wanna sign a next longterm deal and then in a year Nellie gone.

well, whatever it is, one or all of the above

I think what we are seeing here is a repeat of the Juwan Howard situation 10-12 years ago... David Falk agreeing in principle on a new deal, then walking after more money is put on another table elsewhere.

but the way I understand it, Brand ended up taking the lowest of the 3 offers; the final offers from LA and Golden State were for more money. The Clips low-balled him on their first offer tho...that doesn't exactly start things off in the right direction.

In any case, Brand's another story; I was only wondering why B-Diddy would still want to sign in LA after Brand moved on....unless I'm not understanding the sequence of events correctly.

According to Dunleavy he personally spoke to Brand and Brand said $75mil will make him sign, b/c he wants the team to go after other free agents as well. Dunleavy then took that to Sterling, and when they made the offer to Falk it was rejected. Next thing you know Brand's a Sixer.

Now it all depends on which side you believe...but I'm willing to bet that Falk got in Brand's ear and told him go for the dough. I just can't see Dunleavy brazenly lying like that.

I'm not sure how true it is, but according to Falk, that convo is a violation of the collective bargaining agreement. And Brand seemed to back that sentiment: "We were trying to make that work. But I hired a lawyer for a reason."

You're right on that one.....because when it comes to a conniving agent like Falk and a notorious miser owner like Sterling....I have a hard time believing either one.

ESPN - Knicks to sign Roberson, putting Marbury's Knicks future in doubt - NBA

The Knicks will sign guard Anthony Roberson later Wednesday, which further indicates that Stephon Marbury might be a goner with New York.

Roberson

Roberson's agent, Chris Grier Luchey, told 1050 ESPN that Roberson should sign a two-year deal for a little more than $1.6 million.

"I think they see Anthony as a guy who can come off the bench and score, providing a spark plug," Grier Luchey said.

The Knicks will now have 16 players on their roster. They will be allowed to have only 15 players when the season begins. Along with Marbury, Jerome James is also a candidate to be released. Both are in the final years of their contracts.

Roberson has previously played with the Warriors and the Grizzlies. He has averaged 4.1 points in 36 career NBA games. He played his college ball at Florida.

The New York Post, citing unnamed sources, first reported that the Knicks would sign Roberson.

Dam its a rap for Starbury

I heard this morning Camby got traded to Clippers. Not a bad move for Clips since they basically only giving up a 2nd rounder.

I'd trade Maggette, Brand and a 2nd rounder for Camby and Baron Davis. That's essentially what they did....hopefully they'll be better and they can depend on Kaman and Thornton and Gordon can be something special.

I dont blame him to be honest. I think the Celtics were offering him 3 years. He got 4-$25mil. Hornets making smart moves.

Thorton will blossom now into a true player. He showed us glimpses in his 1st season.

it's not. Falk just exaggerating.

The player is free to negotiate his own deal even if he is represented by an agent. The agent works at the player's will. If the club was to approach the player behind the agent's back then yes, it would be a violation. From what Dunleavey has said, Brand approached him prior to the signing of BD and told them to sign BD and that he (Brand) would give back some money to make it happen and for them to pursue other free agents. Different situation altogether.

Dunleavey gave enough details and specifics and said he had texts from Brand etc. in support of his claims... haven't read them personally, but all I'm hearing from Camp Brand is vague nothings about 'feeling wanted' and lawyer language and what not. I think Falk was pissed at the club for having the temerity to try to circumvent him and he let his personal feelings get in the way of a good situation for Brand. I'm not optimistics about the Sixers, and the organization is somewhat adrift right now.

... As for Roberson, I like it...thought this dude would have been a star ala Devin Harris.
