Somehow I doubt the seriousness of the Celtics shopping Rondo. And you more wonder if the Pistons pitched that package to the Celts instead of vice-versa.
In other news the T-Wolves gave Randy Foye and Mike Miller to the Wizards for Etan Thomas, spare parts and the #5 pick. So now they have 4 picks in the 1st round of one of the weakest drafts in recent history. Oh yea, that makes sense. |

The Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors are closing in on a trade that would find a new home for Jamal Crawford.
NBA front-office sources say that the Warriors and Hawks will soon complete a deal sending Crawford to Atlanta for Acie Law and Speedy Claxton. Warriors coach Don Nelson made no secret of the fact that Crawford wasn't in his future plans. By shedding Crawford's longer contract and by virtue of insurance payments that will cover some of the costs of Claxton, Golden State would secure a decent measure of payroll relief with the trade. Less clear is what impact the move will have on Atlanta's forthcoming negotiations with free agent-to-be Mike Bibby. Although Crawford is not a pure point guard, he's a prolific scorer whose arrival could affect the sort of contract offer Bibby expected to command from the Hawks. |

Knicks, Grizzlies revive trade talks
"The New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies are pushing hard on a Quentin Richardson-Darko Milicic trade, and an agreement could come this week, league sources said.
The two teams have revived discussions from the February trade deadline on the deal. Richardson has an expiring $9.3 million contract and would be another athletic wing player to go with O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay. Milicic, a 7-foot forward-center, is in the final year of his contract and could give the Knicks some rebounding and presence near the rim."

Nets Agree to Move Vince Carter to Orlando
"Vince Carter is heading home, to central Florida - and he's bringing Ryan Anderson with him.
The Nets have agreed in principle to trade their leading scorer and major gate attraction to the Orlando Magic in exchange for three players, which will effectively help them clear more than $18 million off their 2010-11 salary cap. Coming to New Jersey are point guard Rafer Alston, power forward Tony Battie, and rookie shooting guard Courtney Lee. Anderson will be sent to Orlando in a separate deal for Orlando's trade exception. It is now likely that the Nets will lean toward drafting a two-guard to take Carter's place, such as Terrence Williams. "

Rockets could lose Yao for season or more - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
Have to say, I'm not really surprised. Like the man says here:
It's sad, really sad actually...but hard to say we didn't see this coming. |

"Jason Kidd plans to meet with Knicks officials Wednesday morning, opening day of the free agent recruiting period.
A league source told the Daily News Monday night that Kidd is scheduled to sit down with Knicks president Donnie Walsh and head coach Mike D'Antoni early Wednesday. Kidd said in January that he would strongly consider signing with the Knicks. Kidd, who helped the Nets reach back-to-back NBA Finals before being traded to Dallas two years ago, is giving the Mavericks the first chance to re-sign him. The future Hall of Fame point guard will speak with Dallas officials before he talks to the Knicks. It is believed that Kidd also will talk to the Portland Trail Blazers. The Knicks could sign Kidd to the mid-level exception or try to negotiate a sign-and-trade with Dallas. Since the Mavs traded Devin Harris two seasons ago for Kidd, Dallas figures to make a strong push to re-sign Kidd or at least get compensation for having mortgaged its future. " Knicks to meet with free agent point guard Jason Kidd on Wednesday

Pistons reach deals with Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva | detnews.com | The Detroit News
"The Pistons have reached agreements with free agents Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. The Pistons offered Gordon, a guard, a five-year deal worth more than $50 million. According to sources on both sides, Gordon accepted the parameters of the deal. Villanueva agreed to a five-year $35 million deal. No deals can be signed until July 8. Gordon and Charlie Villanueva showed up at the practice facility Wednesday to meet with president Joe Dumars. Both players, teammates on the 2003-04 Connecticut team, were the top free-agent targets for the Pistons. Gordon, 26, averaged 20.7 points for the Bulls last season, and was brilliant in the seven-game playoff series against the Celtics, averaging 24 points. Villanueva, 24, is 6-foot-11 and coming off the best year of his career, averaging 16.2 points and 6.7 rebounds for the Bucks. Although Cleveland and Toronto have expressed interest, Detroit was expected to be able to offer him more money, perhaps starting between $6.5 million and $7 million. " Go huskies

Clippers to trade Zach Randolph for Quentin Richardson
Clippers to trade Zach Randolph for Quentin Richardson - Los Angeles Times
"Zach, we hardly knew ye. Having become the all-time leading Los Angeles Clippers scorer in his 39 games with the team, Zach Randolph was packaged for delivery to Memphis on Wednesday when the teams agreed to a deal that will bring back former Clipper Quentin Richardson, and open a starting spot for rookie Blake Griffin. Because of salary cap rules, the deal can't be completed until next week. A Clippers spokesman had no comment. Randolph, a low-post scoring machine, averaged 20.9 points a game in his short stint here, eclipsing Elton Brand's Los Angeles Clippers career mark of 20.3. Randolph arrived three weeks into the season in a trade with the Knicks, and was a core part of their plans -- right up until the Clippers drew the top pick in the lottery, enabling them to draft Griffin, one of the top power-forward prospects in recent years. Amid speculation they would trade one of their big men, speculation that focused on centers Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby, a consensus grew among Clippers officials that if someone had to go, it should be Randolph. Trading Camby, whom half the league wanted, would have left them depending on Kaman, which hadn't worked out before. On the other hand, trading Kaman, who was movable, if not in great demand, would have left the Clippers with the 35-year-old Camby, who missed 20 games last season. Trading Randolph meant they couldn't bring Griffin along slowly. However, it also meant there wouldn't be any bad feelings about who got the minutes at power forward. Otherwise, with getting Griffin experience a priority, some of his minutes would have come out of Randolph's, and he might not have liked that. With every manner of inner turmoil last season, the last thing the Clippers needed was another snit. The move also frees the Clippers to run, something else they tried unsuccessfully to do season. It might have continued to be a challenge with Randolph, a half-court player, but fits perfectly with the athletic Griffin. In a surprise, the Clippers didn't do it to dump salary. Owner Donald T. Sterling actually resisted the move when a similar deal with Memphis came up on draft day, saying he only wanted to do it if it was a "basketball decision." When his people said it was a basketball decision, the deal was resurrected. Nevertheless, with Randolph under contract for two more seasons at $33 million, and Richardson on the last year of his deal at $8.7 million, it will impact their bottom line, and, with their payroll now far below the salary cap after this season, can make them a major player in the big 2010 free-agent class."

Lebron James is feening lol. Dis facka goin around recruiting. Flying to LA to talk to Artest. In Shaqs words.."he orchestrated me coming to Cleveland". He probably chatting with Ariza. Its just strange to see a star running around begging for top talent. Too many stars can hurt at times. Careful Cleveland.

I can see Ariza going there to get paid. I just don't think LeBron knows what's best for the team. These are just desperate acts to try and form a stacked team. If it was really him who got Shaq to come, that shows a weak, yes man front office. Shaq isn't the same teamate Kobe and Wade had. Not even Penny.
