NY Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce could still face charges for role in Plaxico Burress case, report says - NJ.com

"It's been almost eight months to the day Plaxico Burress shot himself in the thigh in a Manhattan night club. Eight months since Antonio Pierce then took his friend to the hospital and allegedly returned the gun to Burress' Totowa home.

But eight months without charges against Pierce apparently doesn't mean they're not coming.

The New York Post reported in Monday's editions Pierce is "still on the hook" for possible gun possession charges and that prosecutors have considered "flipping" an unidentified Latin Quarter night club security worker to bring charges against Pierce.

This information came in a larger story about Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau's insisting Burress will do jail time for his offense. Asked about Pierce, the Post says Morganthau smiled and said, "I'm not going to go into that."

The Giants report to Albany for training camp on Sunday. It seemed they'd finally be clear of the Burress situation and could get off to a fresh start to a new season, but if Pierce's name continues to be tied into the case and charges are filed at some point, the gunshot heard 'round the NFL might continue to cause a disruption for the Giants."
