Ewing in nba hall of fame
*Retired NBA centers Hakeem Olajuwon and Patrick Ewing took their places in the basketball Hall of Fame on Friday during a ceremony in Springfield, Mass.
The pair was among a class of inductees that included coach and former player Pat Riley, former player Adrian Dantley, Detroit Pistons and Shock owner Bill Davidson, television personality ################ Vitale and Cathy Rush, a college coach. Olajuwon's career was spent mostly at the Houston Rockets and included two NBA championships, 27,000 points, 13,747 rebounds and 3,830 blocks. "Growing up in Nigeria, I didn't know anything about basketball," he said, according to Reuters. "My career has been a dream career." Ewing was a long-time rival of Olajuwon's, and his New York Knicks came up short against the Rockets in the 1994 NBA Finals. He never won an NBA title, but earned two Olympic gold medals and finished his career as the Knicks' all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocked shots and steals. http://www.eurweb.com/story/eur46844.cfm

2 of the greatest centers of all time entered this past weekend. I'd say Olajuwon is arguably top 3, his peak season is arugably the greatest ever.
Ewing is about top 10. I wish he got over the hump and won a championship, but i admire him for his drive. I think Ewing was mostly responsible for Yao's dominance when healthy now. He'd make a great coach and should have been more considered for the Knick job. |
