The Best BBQ place that i have tried in the NY area is a place called Famous Daves BBQ. They have locations in Westbury NY (just down the street from Roosevelt Field Mall) and in NJ. The ribs, chicken, fish and cornbread were great.

BBQ in new yawk is expensive yes? glad im in the south for my BBQ! but thats all we got really....
there is a killer south african resteraunt in new york with raw ostrich and monkey brain glaze and other awesome pickings like that, Ill try and remember the name!!!! i went to a great trini place in new york called either ninos or ninas!!!! |

I visited Sugar Cane recently, twice, and the food and drinks were good. I had the braised oxtail which was delicious. I tasted the jerk wings and it was good. On the first visit the rice was good, the second time I felt like I was eating almost 'bun bun.' The drinks were on point though. The sorrel drink/cocktail was good.
A few years back I visited Brawta downtown and the food was good. I haven't been there in years, so I don't even know if they're still open. Crab Shanty in City Island.
