Thumbs up Gone Baby Gone (2007)

Premise: Dorchester, one of the toughest neighborhoods in all of Boston, is no place for the weak or innocent. Its a territory defined by hard heads and even harder luck, its streets littered with broken families, hearts, dreams. When one of its own, a 4-year-old girl, goes missing, private investigators Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro don't want the case. But after pleas from the child's aunt, they open an investigation that will ultimately risk everything -- their relationship, their sanity, and even their lives -- to find a little girl-lost.

Not going too deep into it, the acting, character analysis or the flaws. Overall Ben Affleck directed a hit. I love piece-to-piece movies. As a SVU and 48 Hour viewer, I was hoping for a movie not only capturing the suspense aspect but the reality. For a movie, I wasn't planning on seeing. I am quite satisfied, and as a parent, this movie draws emotion and realism some of us choose to ignore.

Barely any recognizable similarities to The Departed. Besides location... lol ...

Agrreed! When I tell people about it I don't get into recounting or summarizing either b/c you give away stuff if you try to tell what happened.

No the similarity btwn Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River is that Denis Lehane was the original writer of both bodies of work. Eastwood had nothing to do with the production of this movie.
