What are some tips someone taught you so you can pick the best size for your figure?


I recently heard a sales associate tell a co-worker that when trying to buy pants you can tell if the waist will fit you if it fits around your neck.

Anyone ever heard about that?
Any other tips?

Yes I've heard of that. I also heard if you place your elbow to wrist inside the waist of the pants works. I try it on, better to be safe than have to drive back to exchange/return.

hmmm yes i've heard of the one you mentioned but girl i try things on.

Too many times i end up disappointed esp with pants... even dresses sometimes.
My torso and my lower have are 2 different clothing sizes I hate dress shopping sometimes.

If I buy without trying on there are usually specific hip, waist, rise measurements online I can compare to.

My mother always say put the waist round ya neck and if it go around the neck and two ends touch and it is not tight round the neck it should fit ya waist.

like H&M bra's... could buy them without even lookin at it caus they are all the same

I walk with a miniature tape measure in my bag so I just measure them. I also tend to buy things that have stretch so there is more room for error with the sizing. Otherwise I will try to buy brands that I already know fit my shape well.

I detest returning anything... so I like to be sure also and try things on. I have to try on Jeans in the store.

There is a number of them my mom thought me. Generally it has worked. Some stores it is either large or medium for tops. So I really don't have to try on some things.

One tip: When two sizes look close in size, my mom said to put the smaller one on top the bigger and see how much different they are... If not too much different buy the bigger size. This works when you generally can wear either size sometimes. LIke I said I wear either medium or large when buying tops.
