So after my 5 month anniversary of becoming a bonafide runner, jah decide to lick me wid a bad case of runners knee.
Basically it feels as if there is a spiked ball under my kneecap everytime I run....moreso on an incline.What the hell can a bruh do at this point besides fallin back for a while? ![]() |

A type of sharp, burning knee pain that afflicts many runners can be easily and quickly treated with a combination of simple exercises, deep massage, and pain relievers, according to a team of researchers from Stanford University. Their report appeared in a recent issue of The Physician and Sportsmedicine.
The condition, known as iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS), is responsible for as many as 12% of all running-related overuse injuries. ... How does ITBS happen? It may be caused by running on a banked surface, so the downhill leg bends slightly inward, stretching the band; by inadequate warm-up or cool-down; by running excessive distances or increasing mileage too quickly; or by certain physical abnormalities. But most runners with ITBS can return to running within 6 weeks if they follow a simple, three-step recovery program, explains lead author Michael Fredericson, MD, an assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Stanford University Medical Center. Fredericson is also the team physician for Stanford's cross-country and track teams. Runner's knee Runner's knee is a wearing away of the back of the kneecap, causing pain in the knee. This can occur because of decreased strength of middle quadricep muscles, or shoes that do not give proper support when you come off of your forefoot on the inside. What to do? Maharam says the condition is typically treated with a full-length sports orthotic and strengthening exercises directed at the middle quad muscle.
