Looking for a good liscensed tattoo parlor

I'm strongly thinking about getting a tattoo...I find I've been wasting too much money on henas and airbrush designs, it's time for the real thing.

I just want to get some references from anyone who has a tattoo---was it painful, excruciating? pricing? did you go back? I just want to know all the ends and outs from people before I give someone my skin to play with.

I just read this article that list some of the negative things:
"Tattoos are created by rapidly and repeatedly injecting ink into the dermal layer of the skin with a small needle to develop a permanent coloration. Risks include pain, skin and blood infections, allergic reactions to the pigments and thick scars called keloids. And if you change your mind, removal is no easy task, Rosen said."

everyone has different pain levels, so asking a question like "did it hurt" is kinda... not helpful. plus it all depends on the place you get your tat.

go look around ny and check out tattoo parlors, ask about licenses and ask to see the equipment and pics of their work. the studio should be clean and look impeccable.

the article is right, because that happens to some ppl when they don't do their research and when dey trust shotty artists.

I have four tattoos...and every one of them hurt...some more than others...the one on my back made me want to ask the guy to stop...I tend to think I have a high threshold for pain, so I kept going back...

Apart from cleanliness of the place, I personally like an artist who had lots of tattoos themselves...that's just me...

If you forgot anything else, remember this...make sure and think carefully before you select a design...'cause it is gonna be a part of you forever...

Personally i have two tattoos and i got them both from the same place. as far as it hurting, yes it did. i thinkin coloring is the most painful part of any tattoo but that's just me. both my tattoos took two plus hours. i did check out the spot before i went and the thing that i liked about this place is that they take the needles they are goin to use out of the package in front of you and are constanting changing gloves when they touch things other than you and the ink.

For some ppl the outline hurts more than the shading and for others its the other way round or both.
Having a tattoo done is painful sh*t but it depends on what area of your body you're getting it done because some areas are more sensitive than others. I have 3 tattoos (all hidden of course) and the one on my lower back was the most painful one to go through....it was so painful that it got to a point where I had to tell the tattooist to stop, I didn't care if it was incomplete....but he just kept on telling me he's almost done, hold on...I still need to get the second part of that tattoo finished.....and the 2 on my upper right thigh did not really hurt.

i have 4 tattoos and the only one that truly hurt was the one on my lower back (only because they stretch the skin for that one). the others felt like and annoying needle pricking me & while they caused a little bit of pain, there wasn't too much. hell, i went back for more so they couldn't have hurt that much. because i'm really dark, all of my tats (with the exception of the first) are black in & the one on my upper back is really shaded in so it damn near made me shed a tear. i really couldn't tell you how the tat would feel on you seeing as though i don't know how much you can take. i think it's best you just go try for your self and see if you can handle it. start small though.

my first tat was done by an artist in Philly and all my others were done by the same guy at the same tattoo parlor. i like him because he works specifically with people of color so he knows what colors/designs will look best on my skin and all i have to do is describe what i want and he draws it freestyle and hooks me up.

it's really not so be certain on where you're putting it and what you are getting done

it is painful but for some ppl it's worse than for others...mind over matter babes, if you know you want it done, you gonna have to take the pain...it really doesn't take long (depending on the size of course)to do which makes it less painful...but really do your research because it can either be really beautiful or look like a piece of shit
