I just recently experienced a brazilian wax.You have a choice of going completely bald or a runway. It was first uncomfortable having to skin up in front of a stranger but in the end ..... WONDERFUL.
Sex is 100% better.

start off w/ just a regular bikini wax if you're new to this. DO NOT attempt a brazilian on your 1st visit or you'll never go back again the more you do it, you will eventually become immune to the pain. and the pain doesn't last long, it's 2 seconds while the strips are being ripped off your skin but if you have sensitive skin like me you could be a little sore a few hrs later
BUT IT'S WORTH EVERY SECOND OF THE PAIN. you'll feel much cleaner & sexier. and your man will love it

Why not a brazilian wax for the first time? .... It was mine and it wasn't bad at all.

well you got lucky, not everyone can handle a brazilian for the 1st time. it also depends on the esthetician, they should go to a reputable salon, not just anyone. I've been doing brazilians for years w/ the same girl so I'm used to it & I trust her. she has pretty much seen as much of me as my gyno!

Red face TMI

I went yesterday and the lady told me that I don't have enough hair. I shaved about two days before. She is trying to tell me that I need about 1/2 inch of hair.... in order to wax it. So you mean I have to have a whole bunch of hair so when she pulls all that hair out I will be in pain ?

Anesthetic

It helps if you take some ibuprofen before and also I know that there is a certain time during the month (maybe when you are ovulating, I'm not sure, check the web) when you are more sensitive.

You may want to see if you can get a prescription for EMLA. It is a topical anesthetic that you have to apply about thirty minutes before and let it sit with this saran wrap-like thing over it. It numbs the area.

You may not be able to use on the labia if you're getting a Brazilian, though. Even if you can't get the prescription, some aestheticians carry it. It's cheaper with the 'scrip, though.

Good luck, Girl.

And yes, for waxing, it is kind of a drag because you do need to let it grow just a bit. I needs to be able to really grab the hair. Some will try 1/4" but I think it probably depends on the kind of hair.

To get waxed, they want you to have about two weeks growth of hair, but if you hair grows really fast, dont wait two weeks, similarly if it grows slowly you will need to wait longer. I dont get regular waxes. Shave in between, but what I do before I go is trim down the hair. It is more painful if the hair is long.

If you want to go for a regular bikini and just take the sides off, a clean nail salon with waxing is fine. For my brazilian, I typically go to a spa. The spa I go to is in NJ, so that won't help anyone, but Eden Spa in Soho is good. Aveda Spa. Both in Manhattan Soho area. Any spa should be fine though.
