Has anyone here tried this salon in Manhattan? It seems to be really good, but the priceses are crazy. I want to get my hair done there but I need to know if they are worth it.

One thing that make me laugh though, they can make u locs and attach them to ur head.... , for only about a gazillion dollars...

here is the site. khamit kinks

lol @ this post. I went to a Moshood fashion show at that same salon in 96' Back then the prices were still outrageous. They really know how to pimp the whole bohemian-africentric lifestyle boy.

When I was natty, I never went there to get them twist. There is a shop called Idalias right on Flatbush and Bergen (down the block from sugarcane rest) I sistren named Julia is the loctician there. really good too. Wash and twist run u about $55.00

You'd be amazed at how some people want locs, but don't want to have the discipline to grow them.

Khamit Kinks is usually frequented by people in the entertainment field or for people who just don't have $hit else to do with there money. when they first started, it wasn't like that.

So the consensus seems to be "they all hype" I think the styles look nice but Never will I be there paying 500 to get braids that I can get for 75 elsewhere! Plus I don't think dreads are worth shyte if you aint grown them out ur own head!

They are very good. And yes they are expensive, because they do a lot of celebrity hair. One of my friends use to work there for a couple of years. She now has her own place, call strands studio, downtown brooklyn.

Dat place rhel full ah dehself...charging those kinda ridiculous prices. From what I've seen on their website the styles are nice but there are other salons that can do the job just as good for about half the price.

If you're looking for somewhere that specializes in natural hair I would recommend Nu Wave Kultural Kreations located on Washington Ave and St. Marks.

all of these so-called "specialized" salons for natural hair are full of natural shyte! the prices they charge are outrageous, the products they use can be bought at the grocery store and made at home and the styles they produce can be either done at home or done in another shop for a helluva lot less than what they charge. it's almost like the want to punish you for having natural hair or locks. it's crazy.
