Unhappy help with my hair

I need some help with my hair. I've been reading the posts under Dominican Hairstylist and now I'm thinking about switching. I've been going to the same Jamaican/ Trini woman since I was 13. I'm 19 now. My hair is longer now but not where I want it to be. I recently colored my hair. I'm not sure if it's the color or stress but my hair is falling out more from the roots. I told my doctor (a black woman) and she said it happens to her too. I might just need some deep-conditioner like Nexius. She also send to try vitamins and get healthier. Her hair long and thick so she must know. The woman I go to she used wrap my hair only until I told her to roller set and then wrap. She roller set all most everyone else. She only do what you ask her. She does put some thick treatment in my hair. I've never had a problem with her but not that I hear Dominicans might do hair better and whatever they put in your hair will help it grow, I'm thinking of going there. But I don't want anymore of my hair to fall out due to a bad perm or coloring or whatever. Over the years I lost the hair at the side due to braids and my hair line is starting to recede. My hair is uneven. But no one can even guess unless they were in the salon with me. So can the Dominicans or anyone really help me with my problems? I live in Brooklyn near Ave. N and Flatbush so I don't live to far from Maribel's. i see that they are always busy and it won't bee that hard for me to get there really early. Are they really good? Do they do good on black women's hair like mine? Gurls!!! send me some info. i need to do my hair next week and I plan on a color, wash, roller set, trim and deep-conditioning. All that would cost me about $50-$60 or a little more. What is the best for me to do?

Honey:

I too am suffering from some of the symptoms that you are speaking of. My hair is dry/frizzed due to coloring and it is not exactly the length I would like it to be.

For color - me presonally - I would suggest going to a licensed colorist. They are not cheap, but they went to school to learn coloring and therefore have experience and guidance on what they are doing. In the past I have had "friends" and non-licensed colorists do my color and I ended up looking like a rainbow because my hair would not take the color properly. The licensed colorist got me to look "normal" without all the colors, BUT it is not cheap! It costs me over $200 for that.

The dominicans give you a very good deep conditioning that does have your hair feeling soft and smooth. In backchat there was a post on what people used for shampoo and conditioner and listed some products to help with frizz and dryness...I'll try to find it and post for you!

Good Luck!
