Fashion 101: Don't throw away dem Faded Pants!

So you have your favorite black pants/jeans that have faded with age, depending on the fabric: Synthetics and blends won't take color, but all-natural fibers and, surprisingly, rayon accept dye well. But think of dyeing as a last ditch effort because it is always a gamble- the seperate panels in a garment may absorb color differently, and blotching is a risk. Some cleaners offer dyeing services (les messy fo you), but if you're going DIY, always wear gloves, pretreat with a color-lifter like RIT Dye Fabric Treatment Powder Color Remover ($2.29, www.ritdye.com), and double the dosage for dark colors!
