Besides the net.....
where can I find some really cute, comfortable
slippers or sandals for work? Thong slippers
and/ or sandals that I can wear everyday
preferably something in black, tan, white or brown

Are you near a Ross, Marshalls or TJ Maxx? Those are great...they have Burlington Coat Factory down here too...don't know about there though...

I like small boutiques and normally just walk along streets like 34th, 14th, Fulton and through the fashion district or soho in Manhattan. Flatbush between Synder and about Lenox or Clarkson in Brooklyn - those stores that sell dresses etc. Jamaica Ave in Queens.

I like a lot of different variety so I rather not spend all my time hunting for one or 2 in the big department stores. When I browse the small boutiques and one jumps out at me I buy.
