I haven't trimmed my hair at all. I will give that a try. Also, my hair isn't shedding. I think the loss of hair is due to tangling...I'm not sure.

Anywho, my plan was to cut the relaxer in October. I might do it this month.

I'm rambling lol

Not sure what the issue is here. I understood just fine. Not sure why you felt my posts were focused on your posts rather than just being involved in the general conversation.

I thinking of wearing my hair braided for a couple weeks. Problem is my hair gets messed up quick because I still wash a couple times a week even while braided...and with this heat I sometimes wash 3 or 4 times a week.

is it that you exercise a lot or you just accustomed washing your hair that often?

hmm..i guess for diff folks. i blow her hair dry..OR...just plait wet and allow to dry..take out and style and all is gravy.

im really surprised at you alls approach. i was always told hair is at its weakest when wet..but hey..whatever works
lol @ me finally getting to read this thread! BL I may be wrong but I think its only relaxed hair that's so weak when its dry. I always read that our parents were wrong bak in the days when they used to style our hair dry. When I wash my lil one's hair I grab a pony tail holder and close it up in a bun to make sure the air doesn't dry the ends before I can get her out the tub and dressed to deal w/ her hair. I find if I apply the product to the wet hair and give her some big but tight plaits while its wet then in the morning her hair is like silk and I can just give her pony tails if I choose. If I even towel dry, I find the comb doesn't go straight thru despite that it was just doing so when I conditioned it (and I comb thru conditioner w/ a rat tail). Product applied to the wet hair also seems to give it a certain elasticity. Also, the 2 occasion when i blow dried her hair, it seemed like it temporarily changed her hair texture..like that silky waviness and elasticity were gone and replaced by a texture almost like unhealthy permed hair is the only way I can describe. Didn't come back till next time I washed. Anyway, I guess it depends on the individual and the product on their hair.

Anyway, lemme keep reading...

And why did that crazy MIL of mines take them out because she said she's a girl, and needed a more girly style.
<--that was me and my husband because I already told that woman don't touch her hair. He told me not to keep it real with her, and I had to keep it real with him. I spend time doing that child's hair, and not for that lady who only knew about doing a boy's hair to eff it up. As for my mother I told her, stop it or your granddaughter is going to be bald or in locs, which my daughter heard and she broke down crying. "I'm a girl, I don't want to have a bald head!"
LMAO! You need to just make a decree that NO ONE touches her hair. My princess could look like she have no owner and no one will touch her hair cause they don't want to hear my mouth. I feel in love w/ mini twists last summer when she started swimming every day and kept doing them. I'm looking for the pic of them down, usually I leave them down or like this pic for the 1st few days then I start putting them in 2 or 3 ponytails. When she swims I co wash every day and shampoo on friday or saturday and they stay looking great. When she goes to ballet they give her a real nice bun at the top.

Exactly because I speaking about the whole convo and what seemed to be the general understanding based on the child's picture. Thus, the clarification because you asked what was meant by certain statements. I was simply clarifying where mine was coming from. It all started when you quoted LR's post regarding managing hair when wet. She was speaking about hair when curly, not blowdried out.

Dont think anyone disagrees with you about blowdried hair but I think most of us were concentrating on thr pic and hair in a naturally curly state.

you may be right. i would agree our parents may have been ill informed, but i can only go off of what i know, and becuase our hair was natural, it faired better den most of the girls in our neighborhood. my mom didnt perm our hair.... and i still follow the same basic hair care rituals from small.
i like to condition well and add products to my baby hair to moisturise it. most times i braid wet and leave it till next time to take care of it..(mostly in summer) but have no problem adding a blow dryer to it, to straighten it..esp in winter months to straighten it..esp when i want to do serious braided styles. i can say i never noticed any change in the texture..its very thin and i can dry it in less than 5 mins. i noticed when dem domininican used to blow my sister hair, it seemed to change her curly texture..and it seemed straighter somehow even after washing, so although i havent noticed a change, i will look out for that.

aww..i like to do this style alll the time. its great for everything esp in summer for swimming trips, and its easy to bun up for leotard time. i dont like to do braids or twists where beads are added...i dont like the damage (i THINK) they may do to her ends.

I actually don't like the look of beaded styles so never even contemplated the damage. Maybe one bead on the very end (of someone else kid) but I can't stand all them beads damn near to the scalp at all How long does it take you and Jaze to do a whole head of twists? My sis does laugh and say I have issues cause I take 4 hours.
