But then someone said that the allergic reaction may actually be due to not having pure products that have other ingredients in it b/c they knew someone with a nut allergy who switched to a better source of the items and had no problems. Since they both are inexpensive I thought I would give it a try. If I start to react I wont feel no way about the money I spent.

Bantu knots I can manage a bit easier than doing flat twists. I am sensing my confusion comes from being left handed and trying to work in the same direction as the girls in the video who are right handed and then I get confused which direction to plait in....the world is hard for us lefties I tell u
yeah that's why when I cornrow people say the baby's braids are cute, but want to know why I braid underhanded instead of overhand. thank goodness for LR posting that link for that kid's blog because I thought I was just spechul. Now I can say I'm doing mini-dutch braids.

Bantu Knots

So now that i have some good length, my bantu knots are not coming out cute like they used to. Everytime i do them, they are still not dry when i loose them out.

People with longer hair, how did get your Bantu knots to dry completely?

i actually don't do my banut knots when my hair is fully wet. i do it when dry and just spray a lil water on after i twist to do that bantu knot. does that make sense?

you know what i notice.. no matter how much high fashion cremes and puddings and whatever exist out there.. the thing that keeps my hair good and soft is regular ole conditioner.. i use organic root stimulator, conditioner and that shit keeps my hair slick when it need to be but soft when i take it out.. and protects from teh elements.. simple yes

Ok folks, today I got to spend some hours with the little one and I took her home so she can start getting used to the environment. Her hair needed to be done, so I tried, but then I forgot that I didn't have combs nor brushes. My daughter has a doll that came with a hard plastic brush so I used that. I know I know, I now have a real brush and a wide tooth comb.

so the first pic is her hair with water and Argan oil. and the second is the end result. I asked her of I was hurting and she said no.

Please feel free to share any tips. Also on Saturday we are to a wedding and I would like to a nice little coiffure but nothing too difficult since I will be the one doing it.

^^^

I'm quite simple. For the wedding, perhaps twist her hair in the front and then band it. Then leave the back open with the argan oil and water as you have done here.

Relaxed and Natural Hair Styles and Hair Care
You do this hair style, and just add a pretty headband.
Or this one

you will need several combs..small tooth one for getting those parts together..

with her hair, you may want to try to control it dry, rather than dealing with it wet. when hair is wet, it can be easily damaged if you dont know what you are doing..so if you blow it dry.(.comb blow it dry), seems like it will be easer for you to manage. lil hair greese..or personally, i have a palmers cocoa butter - hair butter that would work on her hair nicely..a stiff hair brush and *Umm...can you braid?* well braid or give her soft twists ponies.

oh.. thats the texture?.. well you can follow everythign i said in my previous post.. try your best to comb her hair out during the conditioning step of washing her hair.. and towel dry it.... then comb out immediately... her hair will not be that hard to care for.. take it from me.. it seems to be thick but that's about the only problem i foresee.. and remember to take those elastic bands out before she goes to bed.. you don't want to mess up her hair by tearing it... tie wit a nice headtie and then fix in the morning.. i wouldnt advise combing her hair dry... that doesn't work for all textures.. if her hair is like mine, it is easier to manage when wet than dry... and most likely will absorb liquids.. keep it well moisturized and you will be fine..

www.chocolatehairvanillacare.com has some decent styles and she has videos etc.. so you can check out something easy from there... but a hairstyle i gave my sister when she was young to go to some event, was part the hair in two with the part going from ear to ear... comb the top in a ponytail with drop curls.. and then curl the bottom with the same drop girls.. for her texture you dont have to do much but wet the hair and use a comb to give "finger curls" like what triniameri posted.. simple and neat.. or just give her a side ponytail with curls..

and babyloc is right.. you need a small comb for them parts.. get what they call a "rat tail comb" lol..

a shampoo comb for detangling while conditioning etc..

and two natural boar bristle brushes.. one with firm bristles for regular maintenance.. and one with softer bristles to neaten up and clean up any wispy pieces in the front and back..

my daughter has similar texture...but not as thick and i would not advise her to deal with her hair wet..esp if she doesnt know what she is doing. you hair is weakest when wet..Poca and her birth daughter both have locs so Poca is not experienced with loose hair (as evidenced by this thread)...and dealing with wet hair..esp NOT knowing to comb from ends to roots to avoid breakage...NOT knowing to rinse from root to ends... is not a good idea. its TRUE, her hair willl be easy to manage, but when you dont have the know how...its best to be on the safe side

This is when I'll say work with the hair when it's damp. That way when you're applying the products the ingredients have something to absorb into. That's a happy medium, and believe me if she did that baby's hair dry they would have a mess of problems.

Just honestly keep what you're doing Poca because her hair already looks like you at least remember a little of something when your daughter was around her age.
