good idea to see the doctor first. Acne is treatable with the right medication.

The same thing happened to be about 2 years ago. Never had acne in my life and all of a sudden.

ProActiv didn't work ..it made it worse.

I went to the dermatologist and that really didn't work either.

I started going to the sauna everyday and going for a facial once every 2 months or so and in 6 months it was gone. Oh and i used this cream from England that my freind bought for me. It worked wonders. I think my pores were just clogged.

My sister who is 20 yrs old got a bad case of acne like a year ago and she started using Pro-Activ and I was amazed at how bad it made her face.....it made the acne much worse. It gave her pus and holes in her face. She held on to the pro-activ until the whole kit was used up but its effect on her did not change so she went to see a dermatologist and they prescribed anti-biotics for her right away. They also gave her some medical cream for her face and it stopped it and her face cleared. Right now she uses Aveeno and that prevents her from getting any breakouts. I use Aveeno myself and my face is always clear and I have less breakouts.

I have known ppl that ProActiv worked wonders for. It just didn't do a damn thing for me. Thank god for the money back guarantee.

Facials work well for me too. I also use benzoyl peroxide, rather than salacylic acid. I hardly get the monthly breakout anymore.

I have an acne problem too. From since i hit puberty till now in my 20's i've always had constant breakouts. Proactiv only made it worse!! I guess it just wasn't for me since I know people who had great results from using it. Anyways, my dermatologist put on me antibiotics pills in combination with a vitamin A cream and a mild face wash (i use cetaphil) for three months last year. I am off the pills but still use the cream and wash.Stopped my breakouts completely (none for the past 2 months or so) and i'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Lightbulb Dark Spots After Break Out Clears Up

What do you all do to the dark spots that are left behind once the bumps don't come back?

i prefer to leave mine to fade naturally...some fade faster than others though depending on the level of scarring. however i used to use palmer's skin success fade cream and it worked for me. Also any type of citrus facial masks help too.

Could be hormonal changes. Contrary to popular beief its not dirtiness that causes pimples.

Some products that have good customer ratings

http://www.acuzine.com
http://www.clearpores.com
http://zenmed.com
http://proactiv.com

Adults with acne shouldn't use anti-acne products made for adolescents. These products may strip too much natural oil from their skin. Products containing salicylic acid, which is milder than the benzoyl peroxide found in most products for teens, is a better choice.
