What are we reading now?
I am looking for a book to read something to help better life?
Any suggestions. I just finished "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" by Deepak Chopra. |

RE: What are we reading now?
what kind of reading are you into?
if you're into spiritual readings, i'm sorry, i can't help you in that dept.! not yet anyway, but anything in oprah's book club is supposed to be good spititual reading, and all of those books have the "oprah book club" seal on them. if you're looking for fiction books by black authors, i have a list that i've been using... i'll just list the authors, because if i get into titles and all that, i will be here forever! eric jerome ################ey e. lynn harris kimberla lawson roby marcus major omar tyree bebe moore campbell rosalyn mcmillan timmothy b. mccann carl weber nina foxx trisha r. thomas yolanda joe sheneska jackson sister souljah michael baisden margaret johnson-hodge carol taylor zane daaimah s. poole andrew oyefesobi mary b. morrison mary monroe slim lambright robyn williams nelson george kayla perrin franklin white van whitfield sharon mitchell darrien lee tajuana "tj" butler j.j. murray valerie wilson-wesley pat g'orge-walker patricia elam eric e. pete patrick sanchez electa rome parks undra e. biggs earl sewell fredrick cooper renee swindle lolita files j. california cooper j.d. mason pamela williams-guinn patty rice kieja shapodee hunter hayes evelyn palfrey i just finished a book last night called, "got to be real", it's close to 400 pages and it's "four original love stories" by four top black, male authors, eric jerome ################ey, e. lynn harris, colin channes, and marcus major. it was good. before that i read eric's book called, "milk in my coffee"...i like his writing style. i read all his others, and i enjoyed them very much. he has a new one out called "between lovers". http://www.ericjerome################ey.com/ he has a link of other authors' websites: http://www.ericjerome################ey.com/links.htm |

RE: What are we reading now?
have you tried going on amazon.com and seeing what books they refer you too that are similar to the last one you read by chopra?
here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/12809/ref=br_bx_c_2_6/002-7298316-2960815 http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/sim-explorer/explore-items/-/1878424114/0/ref=pd_sim_d_b/002-7298316-2960815 |

RE: What are we reading now?
I haven't gone on amazon and I not really into reading to many spritual books; I am just looking for books on life and ways to make things happen.
The book I read was basically talking about making time for yourself to find out who you really are ways that can lead to the fulfillment of your dreams and/or desires. A gentleman I met on the train told me to checkout "The Miracle of Love" and "Journey of Awakening" by Ram Dass. If anyone read them I would like to hear your thoughts. I like love stories also but they don't teach me anything worth while they are just good to read. I want some knowledge without the textbook. |

I don't know if you are interested in getting rich or making money in an untraditional fashion try "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki.
In addition to Amazon.com, Half.com also has a great selection of books. |

RE: What are we reading now?
It may not be what you are looking for but I just finished read Sister Souljah "No Disrepect". It is her autobiography but it really can be written by any black woman living America because we all can relate. I really enjoyed it!! Keep the suggestion coming cause I am also looking for a good book. I just picked up "The Miseducation of a Negro" but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. (School is kicking my butt)

The Miseducation of the Negro is one of the best books I read in college. You should really enjoy it. I lost my copy when I moved back home from school, and bought one back just to keep in my personal library.

RE: What are we reading now?
This is not a spirtual book but just a really good fiction that is set during the Congo's fight for independance.. its called the Poisonwood Bible.. on of Oprah's book club books... I really enjoyed it although it is a difficult read until you get the event that breaks the family... It is a really good read for all you History majors because although it is fiction the author sets the story against the backdrop of Congo's fight for independance... Author's name is Barbara Kingslover... she did a great job with this one.

RE: What are we reading now?
I just finished reading a book call "Human Stain" by Jonathan Roth. I think it was an excellent book and I was given the book by one of the attorneys in my office. It's a book about how ironic life can be. At times it could be slow reading but it gives you so much to think about in terms of decisions we make in life and how they could come back to transform our lives later on.
