Thumbs up The Four Agreements:

The Four Agreements

Based on the ancient Toltec wisdom, "The Four Agreements" takes your mind on a journey of inner evaluation, self love, and a conscious outer observation of the world. Author Don Miguel Ruiz creates this personal guide to freedom, a toltec wisdom book, as a literal guide for affirming positive attitudes towards your thoughts.

The four agreements consist of the following:

1. Be impeccable with your word

2. Don't take anything personally

3. Don't make assumptions

4. Always do your best

While it may seem like a small list, these four statement can truly change your perception of life, and can re-direct your negative energies into a more poitive light.

A few of my favorite passages from the book would have to be:

"Do not expect people to tell you the truth because they lie to themselves. You have to trust yourself and choose to believe or not to believe what someone says to you."

"When you take things personally, then you feel offended, and your reaction is to defend your beliefs and create conflicts. You make something big out of something so little, because you have the need to be right and make everybody else wrong."

"A sin is anything that you do which goes against yourself. Everything you feel or believe, or say that goes against yourself is a sin."

As with any self-help or motivational book or workbook, it is always a great idea to keep a pen or highlighter handy to mark the passages that speak out to you, marking the things in which you feel will give you a boost of confidence and reality by just flipping through it.
