The Dragon Can't Dance

I hear it was published in weekly chapters in the TT Express some years ago. I picked it up on the last day of my vacation and started it on the plane...it gets 3 If you have a passion for carnival and interested in social/political/historical aspects of the caribbean you'll love it.

My girlfriend bought me the book last year while we were on
vacation in Grenada. Then she wished she hadn't because I
told her not to bother me while I was reading.

I enjoyed The Dragon Can't Dance in particular because
of the way carnival provided an escape from the day to day
challenges of life. I felt bad for Pariag as he strived for
acceptance, got his business going then had his bike
destroyed. I think it's time to read it again.

Yes, Wine of Astonishment was an excellent read as well. There is something very unique and powerful in West Indian literature that I love. I also real Dragon Can't Dance and I even saw the play - the late Andre Tanker was in it.

Same here, it can be somewhat addictive. I find every 3rd or 4th book I read these days is caribbean lit. I'm gonna check out Wine of Astonishment
