My girlfriend bought me the book last year while we were on
vacation in Grenada. Then she wished she hadn't because I told her not to bother me while I was reading. I enjoyed The Dragon Can't Dance in particular because of the way carnival provided an escape from the day to day challenges of life. I felt bad for Pariag as he strived for acceptance, got his business going then had his bike destroyed. I think it's time to read it again.

Yes, Wine of Astonishment was an excellent read as well. There is something very unique and powerful in West Indian literature that I love. I also real Dragon Can't Dance and I even saw the play - the late Andre Tanker was in it.
