The Dark Tower Series.
I'm on book 3 now.
1 was ass right up to the end where it became decent. 2 was excellent 3 I just started and it feels like king is just ripping off all the books of his childhood. Theres a sort of fellowship of the ring feel to "The drawing of the three", theres a hint of Aasimov in his choice of "Positronic" monstrosity at the beginning of book three, and theres an overall undercurrent of dejavu. Im really only reading the whole thing because I suspect it will be like witnessing the evolution of a writer. Last edited by renegade; 03-24-2007 at 08:45 PM. |

King Started the series when he was 19 years old and over 17 years continued working on it.
Thus the beginning books will show King as a young writer with all the other books tracking with his experience, culiminating with what I assume will be the best of his writing. I can't help but feel that he wont be able to tie it all together despite several rewrites. |
