The Boy from Willow Bend
UPDATE RE THE BOY FROM WILLOW BEND...The new edition is now available in Caribbean bookstores and on Amazon (ISBN 978-1-906190-29-3)
...I hope this doesn't break any forum rules. If so, my apologies, but I just wanted to let everyone know that my book, The Boy from Willow Bend is being re-issued this year (with a new cover by Antiguan artist Heather Doram) and is also now on the schools' reading list here in Antigua. The book tells the story of Vere, a young boy coming of age amidst a climate of loss and hard knocks who manages to hold on to his talent, smarts, and his irrepressible spirit. I've posted some of what critics have said about the previous editon of the book below. I hope you'll check it out once it (once again) hits the market (very very soon). “The coming of age story is well crafted, lively and absolutely believable.” – Daily Observer, Antigua “…a story of the triumph of spirit over situation.” – She Caribbean, St. Lucia "Quick, tight and thought provoking writing holds the reader in its grip from beginning to end.”– Expand Your World column, Daily Observer, Antigua “…effectively addresses several issues prevalent in Caribbean society.” – Sun Weekend, Antigua “The characters ...feel real and, best of all, they feel Caribbean, but the story could have held up in any culture.” – Trinidad Guardian “If you have children, I highly recommend The Boy from Willow Bend as it’s one of my niece’s favorites. Beautifully written, The Boy from Willow Bend is a poignant and insightful coming of age story in which every child will be able to see him/herself in.” – Books and Nook Corner, JüJüTopia | MySpace.com (2009) Last edited by Antiguanwriter; 11-20-2009 at 12:56 AM.. now available
Thanks for your interest. So far (as of July '09) the new edition is only available in Antigua. But other markets will follow shortly, and you'll be able to purchase it through Amazon etc. I'll keep this forum posted.

The Boy from Willow Bend now in Caribbean bookstores
Well, my publisher informs me that the book is now available regionally. I hope my Caribbean book lovers will check their local bookstores for it...and if they don't have it, recommend they order it. And if you check Amazon, it'll be available internationally as of November 4th. Hope you like it. And if you have a book club and would like to read and do some discussion of it...even better.
