You think if Soca Artist

If soca artist caribbean wide were to collectively promote their own shows as part of some kinda organization and skip out the promoters would that solve their exposure problem and payment problems and other issues plaguing the soca world

Yes, it does have the potential to solve some of those problems. The bigger problem is that many of these bands do not have the capital to pull off these type of events. Especially if it is not in their homeland. Because ontop of having a show like this taken care of, you need to deal with the advertisement and promotion of your event. It would be a huge undertaking for artists but it is possible and can work if done properly.

I tend to AGREE that PROMOTERS do STIFLE the GROWTH of MANY POTENTIALLY better ARTISTS in the SOCA industry, simply because they're AFRAID to take a CHANCE on not getting an insurmountable RETURN on their INVESTMENT.

So they continue the PRACTICE of HIRING ESTABLISHED acts who are likely to make their INVESTMENT return a PROFIT.
