Why is Calypso more respected than Soca?

Why you guys feel or dont feel Calypso is more respected than Soca? I feel Calypso requires much more effort towards lyrics! Maybe because soca is mostly simple lyrics with the exception of a few tunes and artist. I notice Calypso Monarch is the biggest show in Carnival in Antigua. Is it in your country? Opinions!

In my opinion:
You had, and still have respectable calypsonians, setting trends, and breaking down walls.
Calypso requires lyrics and talent. Not anyone can sing a calypso and be considered a calypsonian. If you were a flop, you were said to be sent to calypso jail. Veterans came out of this artform, who serve as a mentor for the youth, and the next generation to come. Nowadays anyone can pick up the mic, have a good beat, and be considered a soca artiste.
How can someone in their right mind compare Iwer George's Hand n Hand n Hand, to the thought provoking lyrics of: Cro Cro, Aloes, Gabby, Ras Iley, Kitchener, Sparrow, Swallow, Shadow....etc.
Calypso used to have a purpose, and still has a purpose of being the voice of the people. You don't see many soca artistes talking about everyday living situations, or what is wrong in the world today, for that alone calypsonians are respected.
Calypso demands an artiste to be creative and original. Look at soca, and how hard it is to find originality, when you have artistes buying a hit off of a sesame street show.
Calypso is both the mother and father of soca, and these soca artistes are the children of these calypsonians. In other words, w/o calypso there would have been no soca.
