What contributions do your local soca artist make?

What Contribtutions to the community your local soca artist give back. I was speaking to a trini lady that just came back from Carnival. I told her I was going Machel Concert, she said good for you. She later said that man doesn't give back to the community and for that I will never support him. I would support Bunji and Fayann because they always give back to the community they have a dance for the kids around christmas, they feed the children and so on. Machel lost his love and passion for giving.

I later told her in St. Vincent Problem child gave some (if not all) of his winnings to school children in Vincy for school books and things and I thought that was a beautiful thing. The way how the lady put it was the community help support you with your music why not give back and she only support those that give. I thought to myself what she's saying makes perfect sense and made me wonder should I continue to support those that don't give back or just continue as normal. Most likely I'll continue as normal but it would be nice to know the artist I support gives back to each and every. If Machel does give back to the community please let me know.

My question is what artist gives back in your region and does it make you want to support that artist more or you just don't care?

Our artistes are always giving back. The amount of free shows they've done in Antigua is ridiculous to the point where people won't pay to see most of them. It's unfortunate but when you cheapen your product you don't get any value for it.

Nicole David and a few other artists have been involved in programs that give back to the community. I'm not sure if they ever made direct contributions, but i know that they have worked with b-mobile and cable & wireless to make some lives better (especially xmas time).
