Vincy POWA and COHORTS ah throwing down the gauntlet
Man the proof is the pudding. Leh we kill all the old talk and put up the evidence. The only indisputable evidence is the music itself. VINCY We going song for song. Pick a song in the annals of soca from that was put out by a Vincy Artist and I'll put out three songs as good or better from tnt. Better yet if you could get a recording of the song online. Lehme start:
Caribbean Connection - Merchant http://www.toronto-lime.com/music/cl...connection.htm Bahia Girl - David Rudder http://www.toronto-lime.com/music/cl...bahia_girl.htm Rebecca - Blue Boy http://www.toronto-lime.com/music/classics/rebecca.htm Ah making it easy for allyuh VincY Powa and he crew. Just come up with one song in the same class as them three and ah go move to ah next three. Ah shutting allyuh up once and for all. The unbias readership will be the judges. Are we really going down this road ? Okay, Trinidad invented soca, that's great, give urselves a handclap. But all islands have contributed a TON to make soca what it is today. David Rudder's songs are some of the most famous soca songs in the caribbean, he's trini. Arrow's songs are some of the most famous soca songs in the world, he's Montserratian. Does this mean either island has contributed less to soca ? NO. |

I think small island descent and nineball said it best. There is no need for any island vs island bullcrap. MANY (if not all) of the islands have made their contributions to soca. Trini is not the all and end of soca... no island is. So instead of trying to pit this island against the other.... go get a dictionary and look up the word UNITY. |
