Since this is a topic being brought up a lot

How do u really feel about our popular soca artists acknowledging they wanted to break into the reggae scene but saw the response they were getting back home and started to delve into soca?
Artists such as:
General Grant
KMC
Bunji Garlin
Maximus Dan
Tallpree
etc.

love it so much that its all that they hear they also respect the music of there country so de fuse spanish with rap

i cant talk for tallpree in grenada

but general grant, maximus, bunji and kmc live in tnt where for atotal of 1-2 months soca is played.
The rest of the year is stricly dub ya hearing so dem take a liking to it

so ic ant get mad at those artist that wanted to do reggae, aint like people get mad at byron lee when he did soca

de also love soca music so de fuse the 2 sounds

Its happening alot in Antigua too. Reggae/danchall artist like Wanski, Wasli Baton, Promise , Souljah Man, and many others doing the soca thing. Reggae and Dancehall jus get so much airplay on eastern caribbean stations. And that culture is so pervasive. But reggae artist from the eastern caribbean have a tough time making it as a reggae artist especially when dem go ah Yard. I think Rupee is probably the most successful so far.
So its easier for them in soca.

speaking for Tallpree

In Grenada besides the carnival season there isn't
much soca made throught the year. So we understand that
Tallpree as an artist likes to make his music to entertain, and he can't
make something that the people do not listen to througout
the year, but something that is enjoyed during the year is reggae
music.

wey de jab jab posse
