    The New Soca Classics...

If you were compiling a multi-CD box set of "All-time Soca Classics" and had to choose 10 soca songs from the past decade, 1997-2007 to be included with the other older classics...what would your 10 songs be?

Now this kinda thing usually results in all kinda confusion and argument and what not, so let's use some basic guidelines:

    • This is not a list of the 10 most popular songs from the past decade.
    • Not YOUR ten favorite songs etc.
    • You might not particularly care for a song too tuff, but nuff other folks did
    • It enjoyed widespread appeal in the larger soca-loving community.

We probably wouldn't get any consensus, but let's see what we could come up with...

These SONGS CANNOT be RELEVANT if they DO NOT fall in line with the criteria outlined .

There are some SONGS that I want to put on my LIST, but because of the STRICT CRITERIA (1997 to 2007), I cannot.

    Ah so IT DOES.

But they CANNOT be HONORABLE MENTIONS if they do not FALL in the 1997 to 2007 CRITERIA, no?

Because what you're doing is OPENING the DOOR for OTHERS to START LISTING "HONORABLE MENTIONS" of songs OUTSIDE that TIMELINE, no?

nope....the thread starter has "swinging engine" in his list (granted he may have forgotten the year it came out) I think it's a great track and it made me think of another great track round the same time period.

: I noticed your entire list if made up of vincy artists

The THREAD STARTER OBVIOUSLY is not AWARE than "SWINGING ENGINE" is a pre 1997 release.

Surely you do not THINK the THREAD STARTER is a DUMMY for going AGAINST his own CRITERIA, especially on his first ATTEMPT at naming his TOP 10 LIST?

I would like to THINK that the THREAD STARTER has an OUNCE of SENSE, thus it is more than LIKELY he was not aware that the song in QUESTION came out before 1997.

This is QUITE EVIDENT by his OPENING COMMENT of........

The HIGHLIGHTED alone is VERY CLEAR that the THREAD STARTER was SIMPLY NOT AWARE that "SWINGING ENGINE" is part of the OLDER CLASSICS, else he would not have listed that song for the 1997 - 2007 CRITERIA given.

Does it MAKE SENSE to U?

As for your comment about my LIST, I have some HONORABLE MENTIONS, but you MIGHT not like them.
