Decent song, doesn't live up to the hype tho.

Will prob end up winning road march once they both flex their muscles!

A 'decent song'? One of the complaints of Soca music today is that the lyrical content does not make sense... this song debunks that claim...

The vibe... pull back from traditional Afro/Trinidadian tradition.... making use of the culture thereby promoting the cultural experience and sharing part of the history with the World at large.

Then again you have two of the top artists in the genre putting aside their history and baggage to come together and produce a sweet vibe... all positive attributes.

So what about the feel of the song... the 'ah feel this vibe' moment. I am absolute sure you love the song but can't admit that you do! Why? Simply put Trinis are full of talk and no action. Soca from Trinidad (Tobago is OK... ent) is a fluke. Of couurse the hype over this song (from these two artists) will help propel it but... quality alwys rises to the top and this song qualifies as such.

Well my friend you will be in the minority. This song is long overdue and to tell you the truth it is damn good!

This is music made for carnival, not intellectual analysis!

Firstly I never said I dislike the song. My words 'decent' as in its good, but not quite what I expected from these two.

These are the two biggest carnival artists in the world and the fans have been waiting for a collab from them for years. We expect a mash up, a road march, a song that will live on years past carnival tuesday (the last song that did that was palance).

When u on the road carnival day, the fact that it is 'a pull back from tradition' is of no relevance. The fact that they put aside their differences is of no relevance. Road march is the song that make you lose ur mind and want to misbehave and do all kind a ting when u hear it - and this song does not do that.

That said, there is nothing wrong with the feel of the song as you say. Its a nice song to hold a vibes.

As for the rest of ur argument, I not Trini so it dont apply to me!

I can guarantee you that this song will not win road march regardless of how much muscles they both flex as it is too slow and not hype enough!

However it is perfect for jouvay and should be one of the T&T jouvay morning anthems for 2017!

Bunji already has a better more hype song for crossing the stage at the judging points called "1995" and Machel is still to release his road song most suited for crossing the stage at the various judging points.

So it is your opinion that Machel will come with another song for the road other than "Your Time Now".

Your Time Now is a fiery song and can compete for the Road March. However, I still believe that "Full Extreme" by Ultimate Rejects is too far out front for the rest of the field to play catch up.

Machel always releases more than one power soca song for the Carnival season so I guarantee you that "Your Time Now" will not be his only power soca song for the 2017 Carnival season.

Machel's real power soca bomb to compete for the road march is yet to come and it is guaranteed to give "Full Extreme" some serious competition. Machel is a chess player when it comes to dropping his main power soca bomb at the right time and vying for the T&T road march.

Also if Machel wins the road march this year he will created history to become only the second T&T artist to win four consecutive road marches in a row to emulate what Roaring Lion achieved between 1935 and 1938 in the Pre-World War II era. With this history in mind and Machel being a student of T&T road march history he will seriously try to get his name in the T&T road march history books alongside the Roaring Lion.

Music is good from a jouvay vibes perspective. The music is based a bit upon the stick-fighting music tradition that has been part of T&T Carnival since the days of Canboulay before Slavery was abolished.

This was the moment when Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin first performed together. Crowd reaction was spectacular at the unification of the two Soca Kings! Name of the song is "Buss Head"

Here is lyrics video confirming what I said to Biggadon in post #13 above. Socapro is seldom wrong when I point out the cultural aspects in our soca music that others may miss or not be fully aware of.
