Gimme De Ting (de doctor order me, gimme de ting)

Hi All,

I'm trying to get information on when this song by the late, great Lord Kitchener was first released. Searches online only show a 2000 release, but I know it is much older.

Can anyone give the year and the album it was on?

Thanks a lot.

That is Jubiabá, right? There are two versions that I know of. The "original" version is sung by Gerônimo. I have the file on my computer but can't seem to upload it here...

According to this website, Gerônimo, the song was released in 1988 on the album Dandá.

I really wish you could hear it. If you tell me how to attach it I would appreciate it.

But here'sa faster version by Carla Cristina, another Brazilian artist.

Os Paralamas Do Sucesso

From a great Axe Bahia compilation.

12-JUBIABA-JERONIMO.mp3

Version by Bahian singer Lazzo

04 Jubiab†.mp3

Version of Rudder's "Panama" by Margareth Menenzes. I found this disc in Tower years ago. They actually recorded a couple of tunes together for a movie.

08 Requebra No Vatap.mp3

The version by the female singer posted above is new to me. Thanks.

ARAKETU covered Jubiaba also. BTW, the lyrics are totally different than Kitchies.'

That Requebra no Vatapa is excellent! I love to see this collaboration taking place. I take it you've been to Bahia, too?

The "scary" thing for me was that Kitchener's tune was potentially not an original. But it looks like it remains the first work like it! And it was so good that it had to be covered by lots of others!
