This is the eighth time that Chalkdust has won the title, which ties him with Mighty Sparrow for being crowned Calypso Monarch the most number of times in Trinidad's National Calypso Competition; a record that Sparrow held since 1992. Chalkdust last won the crown in 2005. Other winners on that night include Tigress who placed second, The Original DeFosto Himself who placed third, and Brian London who placed fourth. BrianLondon who won the South Calypso Monarch 2009 just a few days ago, saw his highest ever placing in the National Monarch Competition.

Chalkie composition was good, but oh gosh he too damn long and drawn out with he performance man. Maybe he could take a break now and write songs for younger up-and-coming calypsonians?

Aloes disappoint meh...too much material to work with and yuh dedicate ah whole song to Obama? Not fuh T&T Carnival bredda.

Not Aloes, he's PNM calypsonian til he dead. Tigress chune was tuff and Gypsy was good too.
