I think that this is great news!

All the better for us to see the videos / news / features that we actually WANT to see, rather than a rnb channel under the guise of a carib channel.

I only wish it was in the UK too...

I understand that and I agree. However, I am a little skeptical about soca getting its fair share of the exposure. I am not at all an expert in Hype TV and its contents, but does it play soca videos now? Will it give Soca a truly fair share of exposure if the videos become available?

I am all for it, but I remain skeptical. Can somebody enlighten me and ease my discomfort on this pleasse? Before I go and order my dish.

I would still say that Tempo would give a fairer share and if anything would influence Hype TV to diversify if anything. From what I have seen of Hype TV, I would think that it's going to be 80% reggae anyway.

It would be 80% reggae, because when you look at the two GENRES reggae probably has about 80% of the videos on the market.

And I BELIEVE this is why TEMPO has much NON REGGAE and SOCA videos, because there are not enough to fill its PROGRAMS.

Hype TV: I have it!!!!

I ordered it on a trial basis for a month. It costs $9.99 a month from DirecTV. If I don't like what it is offering, I will cancel it after the first month. From what I have seen of it, it is 99% Reggae. Haven't seen them mention any Soca as yet. I have watched it for the past two days and It has mostly footage from the Dancehalls and Fetes in Jamaica. On a side note where de hell Jamaica get all those different Dances from??? And also there are many many dancehall artists in JA besides the usual Elephant Man, Beenie, Sean Paul, etc.
