Although the IDEA is a VERY GOOD one, I can see that this was RUSHED.

Who is the PRESIDENT of this ORGANIZATION and who are its BOARD/EXECUTIVE MEMBERS?

How are the WRITERS, PRODUCERS and ARTISTS going to RECEIVE ROYALTIES from this ORGANIZATION?

How is this ORGANIZATION going to TRACK RECORD SALES so as to DETERMINE who went GOLD, PLATINUM, etc.?

If you CANNOT ANSWER these FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS, see my FIRST comment above.

CARIBARTS, I see the UNDERLINING PURPOSE of this SITE.

You're HOPING that one day such an ORGANIZATION will be CREATED, thus you're LIKELY to COLLECT, because you're the OWNER of the site.

In other words, you will MAKE MONEY by SELLING the SITE to such an ORGANIZATION, or you will get a SEAT on the EXECUTIVE BOARD simply because you're the OWNER of the SITE.

Are you asking a question? or are you making a statement of fact, you seem to know more than the people who are creating the organization.

You must have more ideas than they do, collect what! if I am right and I doubt if I am wrong, alot of money will be spent on it over the next year to develop it and people like you will believe that someone is getting rich and don't realize what will be going into it's development.

I hope that you don't think it costs nothing to develop, just the time that is going to be expensed to establish relationships, find programs across the world that can benefit all artists out of the Caribbean is going to be costly.

I love West Indians! the thinking always heads for the gutter, instead of asking how can I get involved, I believe that it can benefit our artists.

You are going on the premise that everything is going to be done overnight - alot of people would be stupid to believe that, your initial statement supposes that the people who are putting it together doesn't understand the market and what is required.

Your assumption is that the people who are doing this are idiots to the music business and business all together and don't understand the fundamentals of what is required.

Everything comes in stages, it would be foolish to establish something like this without input across the board.

you can email C.R.I.A., for the email that was sent out, requesting info from dj's, artist, etc. and if you know of any artists, dj's promoters who would like to give their input, have them email.

I can only answer for the two people who have been going back and forth to formalize it, myself and Fete in London. Two other people are coming on board in January. We sent out emails to artists and DJ's for suggestions back in October, little response.

To start I am no schlep in this business or where business is concerned for that matter, been in the music business for 11 years. I know where this music can go, don't have a problem with testing the waters, been there done that. In order to get anywhere we need numbers and attack the market as a cohesive group.

What is on the website is what we need to do, but it would be craziness to think that we can do it in one shot. It all requires planning, to get to paper, silver, gold albums etc., you have to poll people, stores, artists etc, alot of weighing probably would have to be done, since most artists sell less than 1000 copies per year and they do the selling themselves -(something such as proof of purchase). A criteria must be arrived at that is workable for our music.

As far as digital downloads are concerned, that depends on how we will approach the download sites. There are options, this is going to be a membership organization - benefits are only for members. If you only have 20 members, then you will have to use a distributor that deals with the download sites. Listing of a distributor on the site for members will be a courtesy, we will not figure into that equation.

If membership is let's say 500 artists with 500 albums and 10 songs per album you are talking about 5000 songs, we can therefore go to the digital download sites and make our own arrangements and eliminate the go between. The payments to distributors on these are small, money is make in #'s.

This is definitely going to be a membership org and definitely with a fee small to start.

Well, I am sure that POTENTIAL MEMBERS would like to see SOLID EVIDENCE that this VISION of yours is GOING to WORK before RELEASING this "SMALL FEE".

I guess all this is COMING soon?

LOL

What is up with SPARKEY and anothers at the END?

Did you get AUTHORIZATION from the RECORDING ORGANIZATIONS of these NATIONS or their ARTISTS and PRODUCERS in this BRANDING?

U SPEAK of BRANDING, but showing FLAGS of VARIOUS CARIBBEAN NATIONS is not what one would claim to be BRANDING, unless you have gotten some CLEARANCE from the GOVERNMENT of these NATIONS and their RECORDING ORGANIZATIONS.

So, are these GOVERNMENTS, RECORDING ORGANIZATIONS in the ISLANDS and ARTISTS and PRODUCERS on BOARD with this CRIA of yours?

Did you get AUTHORIZATION from the RECORDING ORGANIZATIONS of these NATIONS or their ARTISTS and PRODUCERS in this BRANDING? THERE IS ONLY ONE ORGANIZATION THAT I KNOW OF IN THE REGION THAT SERVICES MORE THAN ONE ISLAND(actually 4 islands COSCAP in Barbados, COTT in T&T, JACAP in Jamaica and HMS in St. Lucia) AND THAT IS IN REGARDS TO Copyright and it is called CCL

U SPEAK of BRANDING, but showing FLAGS of VARIOUS CARIBBEAN NATIONS is not what one would claim to be BRANDING,( There is nothing like unity - isn't that what these genre's need?) unless you have gotten some CLEARANCE from the GOVERNMENT of these NATIONS and their RECORDING ORGANIZATIONS. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING, since when did flags become private domain.

So, are these GOVERNMENTS, RECORDING ORGANIZATIONS in the ISLANDS and ARTISTS and PRODUCERS on BOARD with this CRIA of yours?
Since when do you need permisson from other organization, to start an org? all governments care about is that I pay my taxes when due and the fees to start, they don't give a damn what I call it. just take a look at ASCAP and BMI they do the same thing.

VP, I am sorry I usurped your idea, you waited too long to get started.
