I just LOVE this SONG. Everytime I hear it, it makes me ADMIRE the TALENTS on this TRACK, from the ARRANGER 'The Maestro' Frankie McIntosh to the VOCALS of the "Rose Royce of Calypso and Soca" Winston Soso and the backing band, the EQUITABLES.
It is just BEAUTIFUL, MUSICALLY, LYRICALLY and VOCALLY. Oh yeah, there is a STORY that I want to tell about this track. The MANAGER of Dionne Warwick was in the Bahamas and he heard a song playing. So he went into the store and asked who was that singing the song. The person told him it was this artist from St. Vincent by the name of Winston Soso. The MANAGER told the store owner that he wants every record of Winston Soso that he has. Several days later, the MANAGER got in touch with Granville Straker of Straker's Records, inquiring about Winston Soso. He told Straker that he wanted SOSO to come to Vegas to performed with Dionne Warwick. After Winston Soso got in touch with the MANANGER, he wanted him to sing the songs while a DJ was playing the instrumental versions. But Soso did not like the idea. So the MANAGER told him anything he wants he was willing to do. So Soso got the BAND called the REBELS and they all went to Vegas to performed with Dionne Warwick. Of course, WINSTON SOSO MASHUP de PLACE and had many ENCORES. And yes, this is a TRUE STORY. That being said, ley me DROP the SONG that got the ATTENTION of DIONNE WARWICK'S MANAGER in the BAHAMAS. That was the ORIGINAL version, but there is also another VERSION that is just as BEAUTIFUL. I like the musical RAW FEEL (BEAUTIFULLY ARRANGED) of this one and the SOPHISTICATION of the other version. CLASSIC. Last edited by VINCYPOWA; 07-21-2008 at 11:09 PM. |

BECKET from VINCYLAND
If BECKET was a TRINI, this would have been the ROAD MARCH WINNER in 1984 of Trinidad and Tobago. Nevertheless, it has been the WINNING SONG of MANY PAN competition in the island. Of course, this song is MASTERFULLY ARRANGED by Frankie. That being said, here is.......... INSTANT CLASSIC! Last edited by VINCYPOWA; 07-26-2008 at 02:36 PM. |
