For a show that wants to represent soca on an international level, they really need to have an understanding of the genre and spend the time to find artist, instead of going down the road of the same ole, same ole every year. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH - time to shout it out.

voting on this is a royal pain, you have to vote in every category then when you done - you have to put in your email and a password will be sent to you to go back and put in. Really horrid.

Ocean Breeze Music Festival & Conference
November 12 -14, 2010
Antigua, WI

Events leading up to

Launch Antigua - Saturday December 5, 2009 at Miller's By The Sea
USA - April 2010
Festival in Park, NY Labor Day Weekend 2010

It is going to be the largest event done by the Caribbean Recording Industry Association, and based in the Caribbean, (Antigua) It is a music festival and conference.

The first year which is 2010, one day will be dedicated to the conference and the other 2 days to the festival. In subsequent years that will change, there will be more time allocated to the conference and which mean the conference will also have showcases and companies displaying there goods and services related to music over 2 or 3 days.

There is only 1 such event in the region and it is in Jamaica for Jamaican artists. This is not going to be your typical show, where you can tell who is going to be on the show without seeing a flyer. Artists that will be on any of the shows are the ones who sing music that originated out of the Caribbean region, they don't have to be from the Caribbean and we will diverge with a few whose music has its base in Black Africa.

I think the website has a terrible presentation, it should look attractive, seen as they're in their 7th year!

The voting is a lil tedious, however I have voted!

I was glad to see that UK Soca artist Chardanai had been nominated for an award in the 'Best New Female Soca Artist' category.

Have any of you actually been to the awards before or y'all just speaking based on observation in previous years??

This sounds promising.

This is not the first award show, but this one has disaster written all over it, at 7 years they should have learnt alot of lessons, you would think. I have been following it since its inception, why they don't turn to people who have done these shows before is incomprehensible. The errors they make is just unforgivable.

In NY there is the Sunshine Awards, took me a long time to have respect for them, but I now do, they are including artists from the various islands, there is still an imbalance, but it is more tolerable now. It is happening either the 17 or 24 of this month in NY, The Caribbean Sunshine Awards
