What to Expect
So this summer will be my first cropover expereince and i'm wondering from the veterans what to expect.
I was told by one person its very relaxed compared to Trinidad not so much jump and wave. Its more wukupp wukupp and yes wukupp. to be honest i'm only worried about understanding the islanders properly. |

Plenty juks n stabbs. No too many people posing off, everyone dancing and enjoying themselves. Loads to do during the day, etc.

The worse was when the phone calls come. Thank goodness I got a bim cell now. No more having to deal with that again.
Oh yeah...every cropover visitor should buy a cell. The cheapest ones run about $50 USD/100BDS and typically come with a $20 BDS phone card (bmobile anyways, but digicel have something similar I believe). It's so much easier to deal with unless you really don't have anyone to call. You could also get a sim card i suppose, but I prefer to have a separate phone since I can get careless in fetes ![]() |

Here is a Sample of What You May Hear
Barbadians use many emphatic words that cannot be translated. The most common include "you", "boy", "bozie", "denn", "hear?" Below are some examples: "Dat fella look so good denn!" (That guy looks so good!) "Not me bozie, I'en doin da" (I am not doing that at all) "You, he so stupid!" (He is so stupid) "I gine call you lata, hear?" (I'll call you later, ok?) "Boy, outside hot as hell!" (My goodness, outside is so hot) |
