Trinidad Carnival On Bet, This Is Why....

Did anybody see the coverage yet?

Saw it last night on BET JAZZ.

AJ, Gabrielle Union, Meagan Good, Anthony Anderson, Puffys mother Ms Combs - all expressing how much they love the carnival, inviting everybody to come down and partake.

One must give props to Trinidad, the tourism minister or whoever sets this up, for the way they market carnival and broaden it's horizons and spectrum. I have bajan roots but I call a spade when I see it.

This type of marketing continues to be the reason why this carnival is one of the best in the world.

...Trinidad Carnival is kicking everybodyelses @ss in this field.

Trinidad is INVESTING in their culture and getting exposure for their artistes, without them having an artists signed to a major label, THEY ARE SETTING IT UP PROPERLY

And they are not being selfish, they highlighted other artists too, I saw great coverage of Rupee and others

BARBADOS is SLEEPING. THEY HAVE RUPEE AND RIHANNA and are doing NOTHING

THE BTA (Barbados tourism authority) RECENTLY HOSTED A POLO EVENT IN THE HAMPTONS to promote Barbados, with JAY Z present, Rihanna too, Rupee was on tour.

POLO - I'll say no more

I just had this VERY CONVERSATION in regards to SVG (similar example using Kevin Lyttle and Jamesy P), with a few KNOWN Vincentians visitors to New York, about 3 hours ago.

Somehow BET and TIDCO don't seem to be communicating this year because no one has announce the program schedule.

barbados needs to stop layin back and also it was good to see JAY Z turnin BAJAN.

they are supposed to show Crop over at a later date as well......I thought i heard they were showing Trinidad Carnival, Crop over & Jamaica song fest or something like that, but maybe they just haven't announced da dates as yet. and apparenlty they were quite a few celebs at crop over as well which isn't too bad, but Trini carnival has been big for years, so people are slowly getting involved in crop over.

I saw it sometime last week (I should add I have been patiently waiting to see it since I got back from Carnival this year!) and it made me love my country more and it made me feel like I cannot miss Carnival next year atall! I agree, it was a great marketing venture.

BET was in Antigua filming this year's carnival and has been showing their coverage....

He said the island was choc-o-block with visitors from the Caribbean and the traditional markets of North America and Europe, and attributed the full house to the destination's new partnership with Black Entertainment Television network which heavily promoted the festival with thirty-second spots running on BET and BET Jazz from February to July this year. In addition, value-added promotional billboards and other offers, helped brand the destination for BET's Caribbean and international subscribers.

The carnival chief said the alliance with the network continues beyond the carnival season as the production crew which covered the festivities is also making a 20 minute feature on Antigua and its Carnival to run on BET and BET Jazz from the Fall through the Spring of 2006.
