Trini carnival questions
Ok, as some of yall know that I don't know that much about T&T carnival so I have a few questions....
Just want to learn more about it.1. Was the old T&T carnival really dressed up in costumes before the bikini costumes took over? Which one do you perfer? 2. How long do you play mas on the street? (time period) 3. Is there a certain route people perform on before the judging? Or do you just parade the streets going to any street before you get to the street that leads to the judges? 4. What do you personally like about T&T's carnival? Thanks ![]() |

2. There's J'ouvert which starts at around 3 or 4 in the morning and ends around 10 or so.(I can't remember) Then the Monday mas where you wear part of your costume that starts at around 11-ish maybe earlier, then Tuesday you go from 7 in the morning until....... 3. There is a certain route the bands follow and there are judging points along the way. Some bands go straight to the big stage at the Savannah then go to the other judging points some other bands follow go to the other judging points first then the Savannah. 4. Girl, I don't know where to begin to answer this question. But it's fun fun fun, freedom and frolic. Granted it's a different kind of freedom than in Brasil but it's just everyone partying and dancing as one. I'm in NY all year rushing to work every day and putting with all kinds of bullshite from people. In Trinidad I have the warm embrace of my family the hot sun and the carnival where there are no barricades along the parade route like in NY Labor Day. I'm wining and dancing with anybody with no problems. And the FOOD. . OK, I'm getting homesick. :p
