Lightbulb Travelling to Trinidad

Okay...I'm trying not to be envious cause I'm not going to Trinidad for carnival...sniff...

but Iland...

there are a couple friends of mine...US citizens... who are going to Trinidad for the first time... and have no clue what they will need to take with them...one asked me if she could travel on her driver's license and ..as of now...didnt have a passport...but the ticket bought!!! ..lol

Maybe you could let them know what the policy is... before they start to cry!

Hi, I am an expert at this...I took an American friend home with me back in 99...didn't think to tell her that she needed a passport...I had one ever since I was a baby, so I just assumed that everyone had one just sitting at the house.

We didn't find out until the week we were supposed to go that she didn't have a passport. She went the day before we flew out to Miami (we live in Orlando) requested it, and picked it up the day we flew out...she had to pay extra, but she was able to get it the same day...

As for what is needed...tell dem to talk an old outfit for Jourvet (if dey not playing ole mas). Also, a great attitude is also very necessary!

PLEASE force your friends to get their passports now 1 of my girl friends missed my wedding in Tobago in Dec because her stupid travel agent PROMISED her she wouldn't need a passport even though I warned my friend she would need 1 & even got her the application she choose to take the travel agent's advice & just carried her driver's license & birth cert. Her trip was paid for & when she reached JKF for her flight they refused to let her on the plane w/o a passport SO DO NOT LET THAT HAPPEN TO YOUR FRIENDS.

ONE WORD: P A S S P O R T!!!

http://travel.state.gov/passport_services.html

The longest you can wait is 6 weeks, but if you choose the expedited service, 2 weeks.

$85 for passport application fee
$55 if you are renewing
EXPEDITED: the application fee ($85 or $55) + $60, plus overnight delivery charges!!!

Yes...make sure passport is in order. Of all the islands in the Caribbean, Trinidad is a must for the passport(even babies). Also I remember when I was trying to get mine..I thought what I had was a birth certificate, when in actuality, it was an abstract of birth from the city of where I was born. Well even though it had the raised seal, no fackin way the passport office would take it. So have that 200 dollars in order, 2 pictures, picture ID, birth certificate...& try and make an appointment for the passport office. Oh yeah..and don't forget to bring either the ticket or a copy of the itinerary if you want the passport expedited.

Do u know this heifer....even after i tell her all of this,,,is saying that she is a UNITED STATES citizen...and she dont think she will need a passport????

That this only happens to nationals of OTHER countries???

Is a good thing I never said her name..c.asue she would get pelt in
the street!!

Her intention is to do nothing! after she pay for costume and rental car and ticket!
Apprently she cannot pay for the passport fees " at the moment".

She does... it's always been like that for Trinidad, at least from Canada . Jamaica used to allow you with ID and birth certificate, but even they changed and you need a passport to go there now.

Same here, they want your birth certificate from the government and it has to be from after 1994.

I didn't notice on the site that you needed to have the ticket or copy of the itinerary if you want it expedited Juss dey damn money! LOL! I know if you doing the 6 weeks one, you have to put your departure date on the application.

Yep...I guess they wanna make sure you really need it in that short period of time...But if you payin extra money, then who cares. Anyone could make a booking to some place, get an itinerary printed, then cancel they booking.
