ST. THOMAS CARNIVAL LISTED AS ONE OF TOP 10 CARNIVAL CELEBRATIONS

by Sophia Aubin
Offical VINow.com Release

St. Thomas, USVI - March 13, 2003 - Carnival in the U.S.V.I. is an important part of local culture. One of the largest Caribbean carnival festivities is celebrated on St. Thomas every year during the month of April. Parades, food fair, pageantry all create days of enjoyment for residents and visitors.

USVI residents will quickly tell you that St. Thomas Carnival is one of the greatest Carnival celebrations. And its not only one of the best with local Virgin Islanders, USA Today recently listed St. Thomas' Carnival celebrations as one of the top 10 carnivals to attend. To promote the event the USA Today referenced locally made web site VInow.com.

USA Today's February 28th edition included an article in its travel vacation section about top places to visit for Carnival. Among great celebrations like Trinidad Carnival, Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Carnival in Venice Italy, Rio Carnival in Brazil and those of Cologne Germany, Jamaica and Nice France, the Virgin Islands' St. Thomas Carnival was listed!

A short description of St. Thomas Carnival included highlights and dates for the event. For complete information the USA Today listed only locally made web site VInow.com.

VInow.com is a travel and relocation guide to the USVI. It was created three years ago by local and resident Virgin Islanders to help promote the USVI as the wonderful travel destination that it is. VInow.com editors further promote the Virgin Islands by including information on local culture: food, language, music and events.

"Carnival is such a great part of USVI culture that we felt it deserved its own section" said Sophia Aubin editor of the web site. The coverage of Carnival on the VInow.com web site includes articles and photos on the parades, food fair, the village and music venues. A photo tour is also included.

Virgin Islanders are making their mark on the Internet and helping to promote the Virgin Islands to the world as a travel destination of choice.

VInow.com's award winning site was referenced in the USA Today article that featured St. Thomas Carnival as one of the top 10 celebrations to visit.

You don't want to miss jovert. It will be mass. It got alot of bands on the road this year. And of course jamband is opening the village monday night. You might not get there for that but you want to reach by wed. to catch the fair and jouvert. I am with Jus action mas band which I think is the best in the vi. If you trying to have one big party and have a good time you want to be with just action.

Sexydeva and VIoutlaw;

I am all for it, now... i might have problem getting out of here so late....

The bigger question is why didn't you guys put up the info earlier ?

I for one always enjoy going to other carnivals other than Labor day in NYC. Its always beyond me how ppl are soca lovers, yet discount something that is not theirs.

Pls send me the info, I'll try and make it.

Thanks.
